Hey everyone,

I decided that after 130,000 miles and the talk about overheating/hot temps I'd better give the fan a spin. First couple of turns, seems to be damped but after that fan spins freely several revolutions. Drat!!

I need some pointers and steps to follow for R&R fan. I have quite a bit of mechanical experience but assistance is always appreciated.

Thanks,

If memory serves, there is a 36mm nut that holds the fan clutch to the pulley. It has LEFT HANDED threads! I figured that out the hard way. It's easier to hit the other end of the wrench with a small hammer to break the nut loose. Then the whole fan and clutch assembly come out together. Good Luck.

DC, its really easy with the right tools, you need a 1-7/16 wrench , all I did was to wack the wrench with a hammer in a clockwise way, just like you were tightening a bolt while standing at the radiator, then just spin it off and carefully lift it up thru the top, you will have to manipulate it past the upper radiator hose but not bad. If the wrench trick dont work than you can get a good size drift punch and wack the right side of the nut and it will come loose as well... ... ... ... ... ..... hope this helps. Kevin:cool:

Thanks guys, appreciate the info.

Now, does anyone know how much $$ the Horton fans go for? Just email me or send a PM.
