Hey all, posting for Mother-in-Law who has a 2002 3500...

She was quoted almost a grand to get instrument cluster replaced, just curious if this is a decent price?

Thanks in advance... Michael

Is one gauge bad, or are NONE of the gauges reading? If it's the latter, I'm not sure that I wouldn't suspect a CANbus or PCM problem. If you trust the dealer's diagnosis, I'd check the wrecking yards to see if I could find a good instrument cluster before I'd lay out $1K for one, but that's just me.

Thanks for the reply...

Symptoms were check engine, air bag, and ABS lights coming on and off.

She can't wait for this specific dealer to fix it though, they can't get the part for a week, and she's travelling to Ohio, and has to get there...

So dealer put everything back together, and it's fine now... I thought bad dealer, but they worked on it for about 4 hrs. and only charged her for 1.

On a side note... she's been having battery problems off and on for about 6 months... I assume an electrical gremlin would cause this too?

Thanks again... Michael

Sounds like a bad connection in the CANbus or a bad PCM to me. The PCM also controls alternator output, so all these symptoms may be related.
