My new truck has smudges on the inside of the clear plastic gauge cluster cover. I do not know if they are finger prints or something else, but its bad enough to cast a shadow onto the gauges on sunny days. I took a little of the dash off to see if I could take it out and clean it but it appears to be a sealed to the instrument cluster like a one piece unit. Would D/C replace this free of charge as a quality issue or do you guys figure they will laugh me out of the service department.

If I wasn't satified with it I'd take it back and have it replaced. Especially after the amount of money you forked over... ...

My opinion - bring it to the dealer. Something as obvious as this should have been caught and fixed before you picked up the truck. And they should take care of any rattles that show up after the dash is put back together.

Thats my fear, if they put a new cluster in and I end up with a sqeaking dash I will be even more dissatisfied. I probably should just leave it alone.

I took my dash apart, and removed the instrument pod to install the keyless entry (It plugs into the back of it). This task is simple and took me all of about 20 minutes to complete. The dash is well built and should not rattle as a result of having your cluster replaced. Everything is held tightly together with screws.

My advice is to have the dealer fix it. If you don't, it will bother you for as long as you own the truck.

Don't wait....

This is the kind of quality control thing that should be taken care of by the dealer, but the sooner you do it, or at least get it on record, the less chance they'll give you any grief.

I took the truck in today and the service manager had a look at it and said it's no problem and they will order the part today and call me when it is in.
