Instrument Lights

I added EGT, boost and ATF temp gauges and they worked fine. Until I tried to change one of the lamps. I had the lights turned on and I think I may have shorted something in the lamp holder as I was removing the old lamp or inserting the new. I lost all instrument lights. All gauges, original and the ones I added work but have no lights. The odometer and other LED indicators work and the overhead console works. All the exterior lights work.



I have been unable to find a fuse for the instrument panel lights. I hope there is a $1 fuse to replace and not a $500 power module to replace. Any suggestions?

check the PDC, I think there is a fuse there for interior lights.

Its the box under the hood on the drivers side (at least on an '03) that houses all your fuses, take the cover off and read the back of it. OOps, just saw the original post is over 2 months old, hope he figured it out by now !

I looked in the fuse box under the hood and found the fuse for the radio/instrument cluster and pulled it. Radio did not work so I plugged it back in and it worked fine. Any other ideas?

I got it figured out, by taking it to a dealer. Lots of $$ for a few ¢¢ worth of fuse. But I got my truck washed for free.



It was fuse #18. It is misleadingly labeled "Interior Lights" but the interior lights worked. The lights by the overhead console and the light over the rear window worked all the time. It was only the instrument panel lights that failed. I think fuse 18 is mislabeled.

As soon as I read your post, I ran down and removed fuse 18 to find that it had blown. I do not have a replacement on hand so I will get one at the auto parts store tomorrow.
