2003 Reese fifth wheel hitch

Going from SLC to Indy??

I'm calling it that for lack of a better term.

I'm referring to the nylon tarp type stuff that covers the floor insulation (from below) on my Wanderer Wagon toy box. I'm trying to mount some wheel chocks though the floor but have run into this barrier. I obviously don't want to violate the integrity of this stuff, but need to bolt through the floor.

Should I cut the barrier and try to patch it? If so, how.

Perhaps change the mounting hardware to an expanding (molly type) bolt? I'm not sure if this would be stout enough.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kent

this stuff is called "rodent barrier" when used on mobile homes. There is a tape that works on it better then duct tape.

what I would do is cut a small square hole in it where the bolt is passing through, then either a washer, the bolt head, or what ever your bolting to the camper should cover this hole in the tarp to prevent it from getting bigger.

In fact if you look around under there, you will see other places this tarp is cut. Wires for Brakes, Propane lines, sewer lines, etc, etc.

under belly fabric

I had to replace some stringers and flooring in our travel trailer and the fabric needed to be replaced as well. I ended up buying the fabric and special tape from a local RV dealer that also did repairs. They called the tape "Gorilla Tape" and it is black like the fabric and sticks very well. 3 years and still sticking.

Wish I knew about that Gorrila tape.

My work around was using duct tape. Used a solvent beforehand to make sure the tarp was clean for good adhesion.

Then I sprayed it all with that tar car undercoating stuff and it seems to be holding after 2 years.
