Hi everyone

I am a Dodge newbie. Only about a month now. I just received my insurance bill. Holy I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER. I sold a Cheby 3/4 ton Diesel and just transfered everything to the Dodge. Never asked how much.

It's a 98 Quad, 4X4, 12v. It's worth about 13k.

Anyway they want $1500 a year for reg. collision. Not even broad form. The story i get is that these trucks carry a very high insurance score, 19. A Vette is a 21. That's the reason it's so high. My brother inlaw has a $42k Duramax and pays alot less and it also has a lower score. Anyone else run into this. It may just be a Michigan thing.

Joe

PS All of my GM buddies say it's a Dodge penalty:D

Cant wait till the bombing starts:--)

My wife and I pay 2K total for 12 month for my 2001 2500 4x4 and her 2001 Honda CRV 4x4, but that is with MEEMIC as she is a teacher. Thats with 250 deductables across the board with full coverage.

Neither of us have any accidents/tickets/etc in the past 7 years though and neither has had a point on license ever. If u have access to MEEMIC ( for teachers and education workers) it is a great way to go.

I am not affiliated with MEEMIC in anyway other than happy customer.

One thing too is that Dodges are extremely easy to steal, they may be more to fix too, but not sure on that. It also depends alot on where u live.

When I moved from Wayne county to Washtenaw County my insurance rate dropped like 400 a year! for the same coverage, even though I only moved like 2 miles and could drive to wayne county in 2 minutes, lol.

Hope this helps,

J-

Wow that seems steep. Maybe it is Michigan don't know. I only pay 850 a year full coverage on my 01 here in Colorado and they are suppose to have high rates here. No accidents, multi vehicle and also home insurance with the carrier. I would get some quotes from some other companies to make sure I wasn't being taken for a ride. JC makes a good point about where you live. We lived in Downtown Denver and moved to the south end of town and my rate dropped 250 year.

$2000/year for full coverage on 99 cummins ram, 2001 durango and 1998 audi A4 with nationwide... not affliiated just a happy customer!!

Just over $1200 a year for full coverage, $250 deductible including multi-car and accident free discounts. Married... mid-30s. State Farm.

Wish I was only paying what wyosteve is paying.

I pay 1800 a year on my 2001. 5 for full coverage with $500 deductable. Mine went up alot though because they insure all my aftermarket stuff too. Still high but if it gets stolen it's all covered down to the moonroof.

I was paying $1200 every 6months with state farm until I tured 21 then it went to $1000 a year. Am I a safer driver now than when I was when I was 20? I'm not sure but I'm sure they sacked me for $$$ for a few years.

I'm at $1,800 a year with state farm. That's with a discount for good grades. I'm only 20 though. Hopefully it will go down in 9 months when I turn 21.

Edit: I have a perfect driving record. Not even a ticket yet. *knock on wood*

Turning 21 helps, but not as much as turning 25.

My insurance now, after turning 25, went from almost $1800/yr for both trucks to $1200. If I didn't have collision on the Ram, it would be $500 less. Using American Family. A couple discounts, clean driving record.

My brother lives in San Antonio, Tx. His insurance on his car is in the neighborhood of about $3-400 a MONTH! :--)

Thanks for all of the replies.

The company is Home Owners/Auto owners. And i do have all of my insurance with them for a discount. Home, 1 truck, 4 cars and 2 snowmobiles. Heck i should get a discount for having a fleet.

:D I am an old man too(41) but i have 1 ticket/no points and the wife has 1 ticket/2points. Both were are first tickets.

My insurance bill is over $500 a month not including the house.

Insurance sucks:mad:

Joe

I agree 500/month is stupid. I think I payed like 2K$ a year but that was for 7 vehicles and 2 of them full coverage.

My Son just got back from Afghanistan and I gave him the old beater 86 yota, he called for ins... ... 205$ a month thats stupid

In Louisiana you can post a 20K$ cash bond in lieu of ins, I think I would do that instead of letting those blood suckers hit me for 205$ a month, thats crazy.

Heres my game plan for Grand kids, When they turn 16 drag them in front of a judge and emancipate them, then post the 20K bond for them and cutem loose. Now dont give them any property or nothing! When they turn 25 take the bond back and letem get their own ins. I just hate to see the blood sucking insurance companies fleecing the American public.

Well Long story short, I beat the hell out of the ins companies, and I always will!
