I have had my truck for almost a year, see my sig. Through this year my insurance agent has periodically asked me for a copy of the registration, then continue to ask me if I have a 2500 or a 3500. I got a call from my agent today and she said according to my VIN # it is a 3500. She said they might have mis badged the truck.

I am a bit confused, because everything I have says 2500, including the 9000# GVWR on the sticker. She told me it is insured as a 3500, tthen assured me it doesnt matter because there is no higher costs between the two.

Can anyone tell me what VIN digit tells me the difference between the two? Only cause I am confused, doesn't really matter to me either way. I am under all my weights with the 2500... .

By the way this is through Mercury Insurance so they are not some fly by night operation. What do you think?

Ok great thank you for the info! My 4th digit is a K, so I do in fact have a 2500. I actually forwarded all this info to the agent and they looked at it and said, "wow this will come in handy. "

I guess I am not the only one, sounds like this issue may be common with them. Mercury may be mentally challenged, but one thing is for sure, their rates are great! They were also great to deal with when my wife totalled our Tahoe in 2000.
