OK... . so I'm looking at the various intakes kits offered out there and I think I've noticed something.

It looks like the intake below (I think its made by AFE) has sides that would actually mate up with the inside of the hood, thereby preventing hot engine compartment air from entering the intake.

I can only post one pic at a time so see the next post.

And it looks like this intake kit wouldn't quite make it up to the inside of the hood.

Prairie Dog I'm sure you'll read this and realize that I stole the picture from one of your posts. Can you tell if it mates up with the inside of the hood?

We went completely enclosed like our original

We have twin inlets a larger filter and a shaped area around the filter to optimize the function of the intake. The custom nose cone took awhile to design and it helps the air flow even more!

:D

Go to www.wildcatdiesel.com

Then go to Scotty Systems from there.

We can do this in white, black or clear.

I was wondering the same thing and from what I can tell, It does seal against the hood but it's difficult to tell. Maybe I'll smear something on the lip to see what kind of pattern it makes on the hood.

It does however allow a small amount of engine compartment air in around the edges that are at the front and at the quarter panel. It looks like the AFE meggacoannon you show fits about the same. I doubt this would have any impact on EGT as the leakage would be minimal.

Frankly, I think your better off with a drop in replacement filter like the AFE unless you plan on doing extensive bombing. My dyno test showed no difference between the Bullydog and my AFE, Both of them adding about 10 H. P.

Any of you using these filters noticed a MPG increase after installing them, and what about before and after silicon levels in your oil analysis? I am thinking about getting one of these after market filter set ups because the stock system seems so restrictive, but am worried about more dirt getting into the engine. Thanks.
