It suppresses operation of the grid heaters when the engine coolant temperature is over a certain temperature. Sorry, I can't find my installation guide right now  but I think the magic temp is 70 degrees F? Or maybe a little higher-I dunno my memory is pretty good, just extremely short :D. It prolongs the life of the heaters (and probably the batteries, alternator etc. as well) by only allowing them to cycle when they're really needed. I've had mine installed for around 6 months now-the kit is seamless in operation. In the warmer months, you never notice that they're not cycling-and now that it's cold they work as designed.

If you contact Gordon I'm sure he'll explain it to you a lot better than I have. You'll never deal with a better guy than him!
