I am looking at AFE, AirAid, K&N, or homemade intake box replacements. What are your reccomendations for these 24 valve machines? I have access to the Baldwin air filter catalog and have found round tractor style filters that i could make work... But would i be better off going and spending the money for one of the ready made kits? Will changing from the stock box and K&N to one of these kits lower my EGTs? I appreciate any replies.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think you would like the BHAF Filter by fleetguard. (Big Honkin Air Filter) 2790 is the # I think. I do not have the cataloge in front of me. 10. 5 inches in diameter and about the same length. Fits right into the end of the turbo hose. there is a design for the heat shield that keeps it from getting cooked by the turbo. I've been using one for the last 3 years. I change it once a year. Plenty of airflow with not restrictions.

Some will say that its not good to pull air from under the hood, but I would think it depends on what you are doing. I've never had any trouble. You will be able to hear the turbo a little more. :D

I have the design for the heat shield if you want it. Give me a PM if so inclined. :)

I have the k&n intake system, i received it last year for Christmas from my girlfriend so i don't know exactly how much it was. But i think they are around 240, which isn't cheap! The kit came with a cone shaped filter and a replacement style box and new tubes. I don't know if it lowered egts but they all claim that, there is one thing i noticed which was the turbo whistle grew louder:D I have had no problems with it and it looks great!

I say either Scotty 2 or AFE megacannon setup.

The Scotty uses a smaller AFE element.

The difference with the Scotty is that it is enclosed.

AFE Megacannon will flow more air and it is partially enclosed.

Personally, I use the Megacannon (looks cooler too).
