I installed an intellitronix fuel pressure gauge this weekend and so far I have not been impressed. I installed it, bumped the starter and it showed 2 psi. I then proceeded to go out and buy a new fuel pump. After getting the new pump installed and the Carter pump removed, I tried it again and now the guage is showing 0. So I went to the auto parts store and bought a mechanical guage. When I hooked it up, it shows 7 psi. Something ain't right. I checked all connections and everything is tight. This makes me think that the carter was doing more than 7 psi, and I just wasted money on a new fuel pump and this P. O. S. gauge that doesn't work. Any ideas?

If the gauge sender was the type that needs to be grounded and you used Teflon tape on it that could be your problem. I have used several intellitronix gauges with no problem. They can't be wired incorrectly for even a micro-second,the sender will fry.

I didn't use any teflon tape and is there anyway to check and see if the sender is fried?

My intellitronix gauge is for oil pressure used in a different application than a Dodge, but should be the same. It is the three wire type of sender +12,Gnd and signal. Instructions say to short +12 to signal(blue wire on mine) and the gauge will read 100psi,this means the gauge is good, sender is shot. You could also try another pressure source on the sender, like compressed air or even a bicycle pump on the and see if it responds on the gauge. I hate to give you any electrical advice without knowing if my gauge and yours are the same. I did purchase an intellitronix temp gauge a couple of months ago and it had full troubleshooting instructions with it,didn't your gauge?
