I blew off a boot today  :--) I thought I just spent 4k on a new trans. whew.

I never thought that would be an issue with nothing but the Edge Juice.

So how do I keep this from happening again?

Seem's to me I remember some members using hair spray and reinstalling the boot (seriously). Might want to try extra hold :-laf .

I double nutted all of my boots & they haven't come off since. You tighten the first nut until it can't go no more, then the second nut will crank it down & hold them there.

I'm running 65 and only blew one off when we forgot to tighten the clamp. Made one HE!! of a noise though! Never did find that clamp . . . . .

I just tighten the clamps and look at them from time to time to see if they are moving on me. Maybe I am just one of the lucky ones?

I do know th e BD hoses eliminate this problem. I am going to install them when I do the intercooler.

Clean the boots & clamps with carb cleaner or brake klean, Clean the metal & plastic tube, scuff the tubes with 80 grit sandpaper, reclean the tubes, let dry. After three blow offs its held for 20,000 miles.

Not sure what year truck you drive but on my truck (99) it didn't come with the spring loaded intercooler boost clamps. After installing these clamps I have never had one blow off again. Tightened hand tight with a nut driver over 2 years ago & my problem was solved... . I too heard of the hair spray trick FWIW.
