time to put a post out

Not really new

I am having problems blowing the inter cooler hose when I put a load on the engine ie. pulling a steep grade. I have a 1999 2500 slt with auto trans. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem? Oh it just started doing this the summer of 2002. The engine has 70,000 miles on it

Does it do this after you have tightened the clamps down as far as they will go? I assume you ARE retightening the clamps after reinstalling them? If not, do so, and check all of them. AFter so may miles of driving and vibrating, the clamps will work themselves loose sometimes. If it still does it after tightening, I dont know what to tell you. Might check the ends of the tubing and the intercooler inlet/ outlet and see if there is anything there that might be causing it to blow off.

JBisbing, the next time it blows off, (or sooner if possible) remove the troubled boot, thorughly clean both the boot, and the elbows with brake cleaner, then coat with hair spray, and reassemble, tighten the clamps as tight as you can without breaking/stripping them. Good luck.

JBisbing-

How's everything going? Nice idea with the hairspray, Rob. Have to make a note of that for future reference; but then one needs an intercooler for this to be an issue.

Thanks to all who have responded. I have taken the hose off and cleaned with soap and water then reasembled. it has blown off. I was even told to purchase some gasket since, which I did and cleaned and reassembled. this time I stripped the clamp, I purchased a new clamp and all has been ok so far, but then I have not pulled any steep hills since then. I was wondering if there might be a motor mount that is weak and might be allowing the motor to tourqe more than usual any thoughts?
