intercooler pressure drop?

What is the typical pressure drop though a stock versus aftermarket intercooler?



I just noticed toying around the other day that even though my wastegate is set at 40 psi, I swear I heard it opening around 30-35 psi as shown on the boost gauge. Taking into account some early "creeping open" of the wastegate, this still leaves maybe 2-3 psi through the intercooler.



Is 2-3 psi drop normal/expected?

On the 2nd Gens stock is a little worse than that, the Piers versions are about half the drop of stock but I don't think there doing 3rd gens..... yet!
