I thought I had read some where that the max pressure a stock intercooler could handle was some where around 30 to 35 psi. Is this correct, or can I turn my boost up some (running 30 @ WOT).

I'm looking to solve a problem I have been experiencing since I started using my SMARTY. I'm not blaming the SMARTY chip at all, and in fact you will have to pry SMARTY from my dead fingers! I love the way power comes on with this chip, and I've tried most all of them. I have been getting a problem with boost drop when truck goes into overdrive under light throttle. The other day with the window down I was finally able to confirm it as compressor stall; although not a complete stall, just about 8 psi (from 20 to 12 psi). The truck will eventually re-build the boost and take off or I can floor it, down shift and I'm a rocket ship again. :-laf What will help eliminate the drop when going into overdrive? This only happens when the truck shifts into overdrive all the other shifts are strong with no drop in boost. Do I need bigger sticks? Do I need to turn my boost down? Any help or ideas would be helpful!

I pushed a stock intercooler to 65-70 psi for a few years then to 80 for around 6 months before I ripped the tubes out of it. Heck a PDR cooler like the one I run is only $700... ..... guess who did the R&D on it.

I had no idea you could run that much pressure. :--) Thanks for the info.

I see you were or are a flight engineer, I was a C130H3 Eng for many years. Long story, but I'm trying to get back into the Eng section. I give, who did the R & D
