Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) intercooler repairs?

95 12 valve, I pressurized my intercooler today, been making more black smoke than usual. Turns out there is a hole in the bottom inside corner, shows up right away when I coat it with soapy water. Question is can these things be repaired??? The guy at the local rad shop says if the core is aluminun I'm out of luck. a new intercooler runs around $1000. 00

I've been lucky using JB Weld to repair small radiator holes. If you're lucky, and you can find the exact area of the leak, you may be able to "Weld" your intercooler for now... while you start saving for one from Piers!

Devcon titanium putty works well also. Dont let it get onto any other material. What you dont get it wiped off You will have to grind it off when it hardens. Tough Stuff! GregH.
