My friend on his 05 cummins just blew the little plastic intercooler out and is taking it in on the warranty he is a stock truck. Are they replacing them with the metal ones or are they still putting back in the plastic ones? thanks

Blew my intercooler on the '05 Cummins 610, with the Juice on level 5.

I think boost might have been close to 40?

Dealer replaced it, but with the same type plastic end intercooler.



Are there any group buys on the banks intercoolers?

I blew my plastic intercooler with my SP Deisel box, took the box out, took the truck in, got a shiny new all aluminum model installed in under 45 minutes at no cost to me.



re-installed my SP box... and been happy ever since.

WHAT?????? How high of sustained boost? I remember seeing a post around here stating that Dodge's position was that the only way to blow a plastic tanked intercooler was with a performance box. If it happens Dodge and I are :-{} :-{} :-{} . I can hit 25-30 psi boost and hold it when pulling hills or kicking headwinds.

600/610's can peak in mid 30's. I have not seen or heard any statement from D/C on intercooler failures. Not on restriction,no tsb's etc.

I've had it substain 32-34 psi pulling a trailer up hills with no box. It bothers me the thing is plastic.

Don't mean to hyjack, but if there is an interest in a group buy let me know. I don't know how to set it up, but I can supply the intercooler kits. If someone wants to help me learn how do set things up I am all ears.

Oh, and I am so glad the 06 came with a metal one!

On my failure, I over-rode the stock boost limit (of the Edge Juice box) of 36 psi and set it to either 38 or 40 psi. Now I know better.

I may be able to get one of the stock metal intercoolers, but I would rather upgrade to something larger like the Banks unit if I can get a good price on it.

'03 intercooler for sale

I just had Ken Imler Diesel Performance install a Banks Techni-cooler. It's sweeet Oo. . I can't get the EGTs over 1,100. Even on the dyno. I have my OEM aluminum intercooler for sale or trade for something else. I'm not sure what to sell it for yet. I'm reasonable. PM me if you're interested.
