Hey all,

I'm trying to get a feel for how much interest there is for a DT Trackbar that would work with the MagHytec front diff. cover. I'm not sure if it's even a possibility to make one that will work, but if it is, I might be able to make it happen. Want to get a feel for how many could be purchased, as I'm not sure DT will re-tool for just a small production.

Already have 3 names from the group buy thread... anybody else?

Ok, I just got back from talking to Dave @ DT and here's what he had to say...

First, he's never seen the MagHytec or one that has been broke by his bar... therefore, he doesn't know how he could modify his bar to work with the pan. That leads him to one thing, which would be to modify the pan to work with his bar.

He needs to know exactly how/where the pan is going to be hit by the bar. I think he's planning on either having MagHytec make a pan that will work with his bar, or he will modify them himself. If this doesn't happen, he said he could have someone cast him an aftermarket pan that would add the capacity and still work with his bar. As it is, he said that you can remove the springs and the bump-stops on the axle, and with the stock pan, raise the axle the entire way to the frame, and the stock pan will never hit the DT bar.

Anyone have some info on where/how the bar hits the pan, and any ideas on how the pan should be modified to work? He was going to give MagHytec a call after I left to see about getting a pan to tear up for development of one that will work.

Also, I don't know how far down the road this is... from the way he talks, he's overloaded with projects and is trying to get things done ASAP, but more stuff just keeps coming in.

use the search feature and pull up some posts about this issue...

from memory its a rub at the area cast into the cover for the stock bar to pass [BTW it does so without issue]. . if i remember as it goes thru travel it rubs at the corners and top of the channel cast into it

I have a MagView front diff cover and my DT track bar has so far not had any problems with it... Going hunting in October, so will see how it handles then. I have been 4 wheeling down in the Mojave desert with my folks, and no problems with it though.

Hey all,

I talked to Dave today and he's still trying to get in touch with the guys at MagHytec I guess the owner is out for a couple weeks for surgery? ), and he's actually seriously considering starting to build his own front diff pan and transmission pan. If he does get a MagHytec it looks like he'll modify the first to fit w/ his bar, then do a "core charge" swap out deal with people who have them already where he'll send you a "fixed" on and you send him your other one in return. I'll keep everyone updated.

Later, Josh.

The only rubbing I have noticed came after a hunting trip where I used full suspension travel on the trails. The stock grease zerk had rubbed on the edge of thebulge on the diff cover. I got a flat zerk from a local parts house. It is the kind of zerk that uses the needle attachment on the gun for flush mounted fittings. If you can't find the zerk, Jerry@ MagHytec will give you one.

Although I just replaced my OE track bar with a TRW counterpart, I'd be extremely interested if they could make the DT track bar fit my '98. 5 2500 4x4 LWB QC Ram (while retaining my Mag-Hytec front diff. cover). BTW, my Ram has been left at the stock ride height (suspension wise).
