SACRAMENTO VALLEY TDR

Willyslover – Is Twain Harte near someplace? ;) El Dorado (Mud Springs) is near Placerville (Hangtown). ;) :)

HVAC – In downtown El Dorado (pop. 760), we have a Community Center with kitchen, tables, etc. A good place for a fresh crab boils lunch. Seems to me, rental was about $50. Parking for over 100. Would work well in good (B. O. M. B. ing ok) or bad weather (B. O. M. B. ing bad idea). If you guys want, I could check on availability and cost.

Is there any reason this chapter should not be open to any Diesel Truck owner? After all, some of us have too many valves, not enough valves, run different automatic transmissions and/or synthetic oils. I had to say that. :-laf :-laf Oo. Oo.

If different areas (members) would serve as host, we probably would have an overall greater attendance. It would also spread the commute.

Here it is “TDRSVDs” (Turbo Diesel Registry SACRAMENTO VALLEY DIESELS).

I mailed the list of folks that expressed interest in future events to thekidfan (JEFF A. MEITROTT) and TomGolden (TOM). I did not contact the people on the list.

IT WILL HAPPEN

Alright guys, this will happen, right now I'm doing some background and talking to other chapters looking for help and advice. What I need is 3 to 5 people that are also bound and determined that this chapter will work I dont know that we will have to have a board but I think to get it started it will greatly assist in doing so. I'm positive once this gets going it will be heard about quickly and we'll be fine, just getting the ball rolling will take a little while, so please be patient. I think Gary's right in we should plan for early spring first get together. I'm saying late March in the Sacramento area at a place to be determined in the next month. I'll keep everyone up to date on here and please continue to send names and idea's. 3 to 5 people COMMITTED thats what I need now. So anyone can get ahold of me.

My Experience

Our group consists of a:

President

Vice Pres to cover for when the Prez can't make it.

Secratary to keep track of issues discussed at meetings.

Treasurer to keep track of dues collected.

We meet once a month and that seems to work fine.

Nowel, thank you for that. I dont know that we need a board yet but it sure wouldn't hurt either. Nowel I have tried more times then I care to mention to contact Mike with the rammrunners all to no avail. I would very much like to attend your next meeting I believe in Campbell please let me know. thanks again Jeff

Count Me In

This sounds really good to me. Count me in. I was able to meet a few of the guys over the last couple of months or so. Sacramento Dyno testing and Placerville breakfast. Sounds like we could have a lot of fun:D :D

IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED

That we do a breakfast get together in the next 3 to 4 weeks hows everyone feel about that? Better yet don't tell me how you feel, ha ha. Just give some favorite breakfast houses in the Sacramento area that could handle us. Preferably a seperate room but we'll take what we can get. Jeff

BTW: anybody have a way to get ahold of Treeman?

Ram Runners

KidFan,

Click on the link I left and you will see the next meeting is the 21st of this month. The directions are on the site as well. I hope you can make it, ice tea on me eh?

Regarding Mike, he is busy with his heard of camels down there in Dos Palos. They are large animals and require a lot of attention. They won't eat anything outside of dates and cheeseburgers. Mike has to change the sheets on the master bed due to that course camel hair build up thing.

Yell at me if you have any questions.

Sac vallery club

At one time I thought there was a loose knit chapter in the Reno/Carson City area. Except for the first few May Madness's that were in carson City and Minden I don't know what other functions ever occured. You might try to get a list of the TDR members in the Sacramento area and surrounding region and query them. Not all TDR members are checking this site.

Member List

When the Ram Runners club was formed we were able to obtain a disc from TDR with the local registered members. You could then notify them of the intention to form a club local to them.

There was a chapter in the Carson City area headed by John Holmes. You might try to reach him to check the status of that organization.

Kidfan - So far, I have heard from the following diesel folks that at least would support us fro afar, as some live a wee bit outside the general Sacto area:

Kent Kaiser (TDR) Pollock Pines

Ken Eckler (Diesel-Central, Ford man) Sacramento

Adam Sprague (TDR, D-C) Petaluma??

Brian Arnold (Dodge guy) Yuba City

This is looking real good so far!

club in our area

HVAC,

Thanks. In the last TDR magazine I could not find any reference to a club in the Reno/Carson City area that had been listed in prior issues. I wonder if the club, if there was ever one, was only on paper and never materialized. John Holmes did put on the first few May Madnesses and they went real good. He even got the local dealer to help by opening their facillity to the Madness for the first one or two. John is a 'can do' kind of guy.

Brandon, I think you have a really good idea, as I know you have a lot of guys in your area. Lodi/Stockton is a little far for some of us way out of Sacramento, but maybe if we did something like alternate meetings, say one month we meet in Sacto, next month in Lodi/Stockton and back and forth... .

Of course hard core nuts like me are game for anyplace :D

I would be very interested in a Sac Valley Chapter. From past experience with Motorcycle Clubs a dedicated core of people is a must. If you have a handful of dedicated people that attend every meeting and are upbeat about the whole idea it is almost guaranteed to be a success.

I think you could consider me one of those people that could be a dedicated person. I do however, have a location problem. I live in Magalia kind of east of Chico and up 2500 foot elevation. If this were to mature any further south of Sacramento it would eliminate me from attending evening meetings. I think that there may be a lot of others with this same problem.

I have a couple of cents to interject. I would really like to see an all diesel club. This would provide the possibility of a much larger membership. I believe outings should be on the agenda. I attended one a long time ago with the Ram Runners we went to a ship docked in Alameda. That was a really great experience. Even the kids had fun throwing snowballs. Yup that's right they were throwing snowballs in Alameda. Well at least out of the back of my truck. You see it was full of snow so I had traction to get back home.

Anyway if you are interested in a dedicated member you can count me in. I think my profile has my address and phone number if not E-mail me and I will get it to you.

galt maybe, all I mean is the guys that travel north got a long way to go, we just dont want to have to get hung in the sac traffic thing, or not familiar with the area but at sac area that aint to bad to get too, thats all we want

-tom, thanks for the update

- brandon, you are very right that they are few and far between and that is why I think at least to get started we need to be in Sac. myself and the vacaville guys are around 45min. barring traffic problems west of sac. and Ive talked with a few from yuba city area, one of those above paradise but the majority is in the sac or surrounding area I belive I've heard from a total of 3 people from south of Elk Grove including yourself. I think down the road after a couple of monthly meetings with strong support we could try rotating or at least ask at a meeting about it. Jeff

-still looking for treeman

-still looking for a breakfast house in Sac Area

I am a dedicated member, but look where the hell I am at, Rohnert Park:( that pretty much puts me out except for maybe weekends. Oh well I will attend what I can. :D
