My A/C blows 35F, even in 110F weather and idle. So I typically run it at low speed, recirculate and am quite comfortable. This summer it quit working, sort of. It would blow warm, stuffy and at low velocity even on high after an hour or so. Finally my wife said (as I complaining about it) "I wonder if the evaporator is icing up".
How I hate it when she is right :-laf
So I discussed it with my favorite mechanic, chatted about the evap temp sensor not working. I always seem to overcomplicate things. He said to check the refrigerant level by sucking it all out and recharging. He said that pressure tests wernt accurate enough with 134A.
So, he pulled 1. 3#'s out and recharged with 2#'s. Still cools perfectly but NO ICING.
