Well guys, believe it or not, my old 84 Chevy (We called it "Rusty") Was still running fine when we got rid of it at 225K. The 6. 2 diesel was the only thing on that worthless piece of crap that was still original. It had out lived EVERYTHING you can bolt up to an engine three times, & wore out the entire truck at least twice. Lets see, 3 injector pumps. 3 fuel pumps, two water pumps, 4 starters, an AC compressor & Power steering pump, Battery cables, glow plugs & relay, motor mounts. A bad alternator pulley that kept throwing the belts off, tangling up & ruining all of them at once. An alternator, two radios, two tank change over switches, both fuel tanks rusted through, one set of front front coil springs, 4 (Yes 4!) 700r4 Junk transmissions w/TC's. Two complete exhaust systems, several sets of U-joints & one complete rear end. Many many brake pads & shoes. 2 sets of upper & lower ball joints. & shocks. Front shock mounts, (coil springs got weak & let shocks bottom out, tearing the mount bolts out the frame. Two Hydra boost units, & one new carpet from the leaking. A set of front calipers, & rear brake cylinders. Two fan clutches. three windshields, several electrical adventures that always ended in the Auto Electric shop. Many, many others too numerous to mention. We just kept hanging parts on it thinking that would be the end. The old engine just kept on running, the only bright spot about the whole truck. Anyway, the new 97 Ram stopped the bleeding, & with 181k on it now, I have to say it's been the very best vehicle I've ever had in 35 years of driving. A day & night difference.
