Buck, I am sure you have the best of intentions.
I hope you will keep an open mind if and when you get hired and not buy into the brainwashing hogwash most police departments put their cadets through.
Remember people make honest mistakes and to hammer them with an expensive ticket, lawyers fees, and time off work for an unintentional honest mistake just verifies the stereotype perception the public has of the police. Give the benefit of the doubt and let common sense prevail. Don't get your ego all wrapped around the axle about "who is in control" of a situation when someone asks a question.
Sadly, when the new wears off of it you will find that for the most part the police are nothing more than armed revenue collection agents for a second malignant revenue siezure organization that does the same thing as the IRS only with different abusive powers. That second organization is our judicial system and its courts. Justice rarely if EVER prevails there. The folks who nearly always win are the lawyers and the court who extort money from decent people and let the criminals off with a slap on the wrist.
With RARE exceptions the lawyers are nothing more than prostitutes who monopolize and exploit access and representation in the court system.
You will very likely find in most case, public prosecutors are nothing more than ego maniacs who are "judicial rapists".
Hate to sound like sour grapes, just callin' it like it is.
On the subject of this idiot who put his personal tags on his unmarked car, he should be fired and prosecuted for it. Not only did he break the law, he undermined his fellow officers by calling into question whether his cruiser was a fake police vehicle potentially causing people to consider refusing or have doubts about pulling over when directed to. This also puts his fellow officers in potential danger when someone refuses to pull over or uses their legal permit carry gun to protect themselve from what they honestly may believe is a fake police officer. It is not likely but it HAS happened before. Lastly it just undermines the publics perception of the police integrity and honesty. This does a huge injustice to decent, honest, and good charactered cops.
I can only speak to the situation in Tennessee and in my area. Our county law enforcement is so rotten, our children are withdrawn from school ANYTIME ANY County law enforcement officer is on the school grounds. These are the same thugs who turn a blind eye to underage kids drinking alcohol, when they are out long after curfew, not to mention personally observing them coaching people on what to say in statements that are knowly false, making false affidavits, committing theft, and making threats to decent law abiding people.
Set a good example and do the right thing.
