I've been searching around for suspension parts for a while, and constantly compare one vendor's product to another. I already have my parts picked out, but was looking for some swaybar links. I stumbled across this under a listing for the Carli Dominator 3. 0. Now I know why when I talked w/ Kore the other day they were slamming their competitors and telling me they were "operating illegally. "

Looks like someone got a cease and desist order:

The suspension system featured here, will not be sold by Defiant Truck Products, it s affiliates or distributors. As of October 8, 2007, Defiant Truck Products was no longer a distributor for Carli Suspension Inc. Recent revelations surrounding key components in this and other suspensions systems, produced by Carli Suspension Inc. , have promted Defiant Truck Products to remove for sale or distribution, all Carli Suspension Systems. The components in question are the billet aluminum shock towers which Carli Suspension Systems are built around. These billet aluminum shock towers are a patented product. With this product, as with any other patented product(s), any production, outside of the holders of the patent, are required, by law, to obtain express written permission to manufacture or produce the patented product(s). As of June 2007, Carli Suspension Inc. has no such signed or endorsed instrument.

The current patent holders for the billet aluminum shock towers, designed for application on 2nd & 3rd generation 4x4 Dodge trucks is held by;

Victor Ortiz & Kent Kroeker

Additional information on patents, patent holders or patent infrigement are obtainable at the United States Patent Office in Washington D. C

I guess they'll just have to make 'em out of Titanium :)

I hope Carli will find a solution. Competition is a good thing. I wonder how vague that patent is...

We have been trying to stay off of the forums with this issue because we are not the type of people that talk crap on forums. We have tried to resolve this with Victor and Paul in person but they say one thing to us in person and then go around and say something different behind our backs.

Our towers are a bit different than what Victor's patent is. We gave Victor royalties for his tower design. We later realized that our tower is quite a bit different than his patent design (we are in the process of having this legally confirmed) so we tried to approach Victor about why we were giving him royalties when no else in the industry was paying royalties. That's when his whole attitude changed. But we knew Paul had been trying get with Victor for quite awhile. Why Paul has so much animosity towards us is anyone's guess. We have helped him move his products and even designed the dual stabilizer setup and the rock shield. If you have any doubts about this i can dig up pics of the very first dual stabilizer with diff guard on Tim Sanchez' truck. And we have some of the original rock shields as well. What Paul is doing on his website is Libel and we are speaking to our lawyers about this situation. Paul has no proof that we are infringing on a patent. Paul has been acting very unprofessionally.

The whole thing about us taking credit for Victor's shock tower brace is really absurd. If you read our website we state this : "Carli Suspension spent over a year with an aerospace engineer putting this piece through the Carli Product Research and Development lifecycle". The aerospace engineer is Victor. Also if you look at the picture below you will see that Victor made the brace with our name on it as well as his. The funniest thing about this whole deal is we were buying the braces just like it is in the photo straight from Victor and now he puts up an absurd statement on his website.

There are a few reasons why we moved. We had a sub-lease with Paul. We knew he was up to something starting a few months ago. We asked him numerous times if we were going to continue our lease with him. He waited till the last minute to let us know we had to move out. We were fortunate enough to find a new bigger and better building with an awesome land lord. Although Paul's intention was to interfere with our business this was the best thing that could have happened. We paid half the rent of the old shop yet we only had use of about a quarter of it. We paid the electricity on our side yet 90% of Paul's equipment was on our side running off our electricity. So in the end we should have moved out way before we did.

All of us here at Carli thought this situation would be handled in a civilized manner. But obviously some people don't know what professionalism is. In the end we will show everyone that we have and always will do the right thing.

Nothing wrong with cleaning the laundry on the INTERNET, it's the DIRTY laundry you want to keep off. . Both Party should beg off and rethink the matter before it's to late and the profits for years go to legal representation that neither Party will survive.
