What's the expected service life on those old 2 strokes? The one in our Galion was from the early 70's but had very low hours for the age. Something like that is a neat conversion in the sense it is unique but not something I would want to drive on a regular basis. I know the ol 4BT and 12 valve conversion has been done to death but I think it's a combo that's hard to beat in terms of reliability and economy. Kinda like my cousins Chevy/p7100 12 valve.
After actually swinging a 6.0 in that truck, it's interesting to see how the B fits in there. I wonder how the transmission integrated and which oil pan fit.
I got a ride in this today, quite impressive, and quiet enough to carry on a conversation inside. It has plenty of zip, but wouldn't pass a smog test if it had to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoRKCmK991U It's a silver 4-53 with DDEC electronic controls from a 71 series.
Yep, I like that on too. I like watching him shift the two sticks with one hand and double clutch on the down shifts. I'll bet it wouldn't pass the snap test.
