for those shopping for tires.....

i stumbled across this on toyos site reseaching for a friend. they're new to me and no more than a few months old since i last looked.

an M/T tire 285/75/17 rated 3195@80psi. its 34. 1 inches tall. i kn ow the've had the A/T in this size for about a year now. nice to see it in M/T.

and for those willing to buy wheels, an M/T and A/T tire sized 285/75/18 rated a whopping 4080@80psi. 35. 1 and 34. 8 inches tall.

i really wish bfg would follow suit with these sizes, particularly with the A/T. i really miss the tread pattern and wear resistance of the bfg A/T but their size selection is a joke for e rated tires.

apologies if this is old news, jeff

just looked , the 285-75-18 may only be 0. 1" over all taller tha the 35, but static load height is almost an inch taller... . sweet! and 2" narower to boot!

no 18x8 wheels in the aftermarket

i like that tire as well... ...

but i didn't realize finding a 18x8 wheel that looks good would be so difficult. i'm finding squat. plenty of 18x9 wheels but i think that would bow out the side walls too much on a 285.

Exactly. . I ran into the same issue with another tire I really liked:

LT275/70R18 E 125R an 8" rim is the perfect fit and for me 33. 2" tall keeps towing R's in check, rated to 3,640 @ 80. Section width is just 11"

I have this tire (in a different size) on a Jeep and really like em but can't find wheels to fit the Ram in that size.

I even asked Goodyear for help in locating something since they must have built that tire for some application but they don't know, just pulled that size out their *** I guess to build.

#@$%!I DONT THINK THE BFG IS RATED AT E. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I WONT PURCHASE THEM.

the 285's would be fine on a 9" wheel. . 18x8. 5 is also a very common size

i see some wheels that will work that i don't like to look at, some that won't work that i do like to look at..... but no wheels that will work that i like to look at.

offset is an issue for 9 inch wide wheels as well... for me that is.

i think 33 to 34 inch tall tires work for me anyway.

Pro Comp just released a couple wheels with good backspacing. Toyo also has the M/T in a 295/70/17 e-rated.
