interesting on Dmax

To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

What would you offer for this 1st gen?

Aftermarket Leather?????

Where I work at we are getting a lot of new trucks and they are the Dmax's. ( I work full time in the Guard) I heard an interesting bit of information about that. I have been told by several sources that the reason the the Air Force and a lot of the military are buying Dmaxes is because they have had the electronic system hardened for EMP. Smart move on their part if it's true. Anyone know the straight skinny on this bit of info?

I always thought it was the lowest bidder... pretty much standard for Air Force stuff. Go with the cheapest, yet somehow spend 10x more than was neccesary. :D

So, after WWIII, I guess all that will be left alive will be cockroaches and Chevrolets?

Seriously I have no idea.

That would be the day... lol. I concur on the lowest bidder thing. BTW my 97 12v will be perking right along with them.

Well guys, I know that these chevys are not the lowest bidder. They are loaded with all the stuff. Some even come with heated seats.

Still could be the lowest bidder. GM is hurting for buisness aren't they? They could have made a contract with the Air Force to sell x amount of trucks for x price?

oh good, cockroaches & chevys will still be here. that'll give me the will to live.

the only difference between chevys & cockroaches are cockroaches disappear when you turn the lights on

I think it's total BS. Either GM's the lowest bidder (very likely) or whomever is in charge of the purchases is a big GM fan.

I've learned that Ford and GM owners will stop at NOTHING to spread extraordinary stories about the superiority of their product.

they need to so they can sleep at night

Being heavily involved in Govt. contracts there are several factors that lead to an award.

The biggest being price/bid, and knowing the "secret pinky handshake" (AKA good-ole-boy club). Politics play a major role.

no they are sheilded at least the ones that are going to the military they have been working on several differant projects all diesel for the miliatary since the duramax came out and they will be emp protected at least some to bad its the duracrap and the chevy be nice if it where dodges oh well

the reason for all this i belive is because duramax was the first quiet diesel and thats what drew the attention the advantages of diesel and the lack of sound

this is the first ive heard about them actually being produced looks like they are actually goinf thro w/ it keep us updated

The Ram is assembeld in Mexico, but the Cummins is made in North America.

I beileve the GM Trucks are made from anywere from Canada, Texas, Mexico, Tenn, And outsource the Jap/ Isuzu Diesel.

BigGunZ,

You being in Government contracts, you will know that it doesn't always go the lowest bidder. By law the government is prohibited from purchasing from the same company even if thay are the lowest bidder. The law says that they have to spread the money around so the big companies don't get bigger and to give everyone a chance at the contracts.

Having had to deal with EMP let's be realistic!

If we need this protection --- Society as we know it STOPS! You think we had problems with Katrina - an EMP burst means the "Baloon has went up!" Having a pickup work will be the least of the Armed Forces Problems!
