VP 44 Gauge Port?

I have a spare interior grab handle that was once on the A Pillar.
I was thinking that the grab handles used to reside above the door in the older models.
Is that correct? This is where I would prefer them.
Any way possible that I could mount a driver side grab handle above the door?
Any chance there are holes there already?
I bought a replacement drivers seat cover and trying to stop the sliding across that new seat cover when I get in and out.
Thanks.

On my 01 the Grab handle was on the pass side A Pillar and don't recall one at all the driver side. However I did buy two of the overhead handles and they came with everything I needed really just the handle and two screws. The mounts under the headliner were there. Hardest part was pulling down the headliner enough to find them without pulling it all the way out or jacking it up by doing so. They mounts were there and the screws that came with the handle screwed right in. Making the holes in the headliner to line up with the holes in the mounts was a bit tough but just take your time try to measure as best you can. You have a bit of wiggle room as the handle ends are obviously a bit bigger than the screws. I have no idea if the pass side grab handle is the same size as the roof mounted ones you would think so for inventory and purposes but you never know. Also be aware while I loved having the handle there and used it a lot if you are tall you may hit your head on it occasionally driving in rough terrain. I know I did more than once.

OK, What I was really wanting to know is if there were still mounting points behind the headliner. The grab handle I have has threaded fasteners already protruding from the handle, I do not know how that is going to affect what I have to do to install. I am going to have to dig the handle out of the pile in the garage and take a better look. I have motivation to pull down the headliner at least now. Thank ya much! Gary

Yes there are mounting points behind the headliner or at least there was on my 01. I don't recall my handles having screws/fasteners as part of the handle am thinking they were separate screws that just screwed into/through the handle and then into mounts above the headliner just like a regular screw.
.
I just did a quick search on "driver side roof mounted handle 2001 dodge ram" and it came up with some pictures. Based on the pictures I saw the A pillar handle and the roof mount are different handles. The A pillar ones are solid, the roof mounted ones are not, they are flexible. The A pillar ones have as you describe fasteners but obviously the fasteners are screws and are accessed through the little flap that you can pop open. So it looks like if the fasteners are the same distance apart as the mounts above the headliner you might be able to get it to work. However again do be aware your head may hit it on occasion and perhaps that is why the roof ones are flexible don't know. I know I miss that handle on my 2017 truck.

if you scroll down to the next row of pictures you can see the A pillar type

So glmoore001 what year is your truck you are talking about, I have the same task to do and pulled down the edge of the liner and seen a indentation in the location for the hole to be drilled above the door. The A pillar on mine will mash down the cover, or flaten it when installed. It uses a wall type ancher to attach the handle. We have a store here called Marshells and they had the fasteners I was looking for.
