Wouldn't you figure. When I finally have a need to figure out a problem with my 2500, the search indexes are being rebuilt for the new software :p

Here's the problem: I have been hearing a chirp or squeal intermittantly. To me it sounds like an idler pulley or a bearing on an accesory.

Earlier in the week I had a check engine light come on. Took it into the dealer to have them take a look at it. It turned out to be APPS throttle position sensor. (truck has 98,542 miles on it so it was covered under warranty (though I thought I had timed that out)). I asked them to look into the squeal when I brought it in as well. The mechanic (through the service advisor) claimed it sounded normal (he has a 98. 5 as well apparently). Well when they brought the truck up it was squealling like a banshee, so without turning it off I grabbed the service advisor and made him listen. By the time he pulled it back to the sevice bay it quieted down. Brought it back in this morning, and they were not able to reproduce it. They are going to try again tomorrow.

Any ideas as to what this could be. I would like to get it fixed before the warranty runs out. My thoughts are idler pully, water pump, alternator, ??

I don't think its the AC compressor because it does not change whether the ac clutch is engaged or not.

Thanks in advance

John
