I recently installed an inverter and I tied it into my passenger side battery. Everything worked fine for a while, then I noticed the "check gauges" light illuminated, and my voltage gauge went to 0. Obviously, I was not charging. I immediately turned my truck off to investigate. I could not find any shorts. When I started back up everything was fine (charging normally). This happened a couple of times, so I just disconnected the inverter from the circuit. All is ok. Anyone have an idea as to what is happening? I am guessing this is some safety circuit to prevent damage to alternator diodes?? Anyone experience this problem? Thanks, Bill

I have a 1500W inverter in my truck and haven't seen anything like this. I'm running 1/0 cable straight to the battery terminal where it's bolted on at the clamp. The only think I could figure would cause that is if the main connection from the truck to the battery (ground?) was loose and intermittently connecting. The inverter itself should have no effect on the truck's electrical system, since it's wired in parallel.

Positive is running to the passenger side battery. Negative is going to the seat mounting bolt (which was ground down for good contact).
