My neighbor recently bought a 96 CTD. It has very low milege and seems to be a nice truck. He pulled a 5er to Fla this past winter. When he got back he told me that his leg hurt from holding the go pedal. His cruise control only worked half way to Fla.

Today he told me that on monday he went to Pittsburgh (yuk) and on the way in the cruise control worked but coming home it did not work. On tuesday driving locally it worked but then today it did not.

Any ideas. I'm going to get him to join the TDR but he doesn't have a computor. So I will still have to relay for him.

Thanks guys.

The cruise control is turned off when you apply the brakes. The switch down by the front of the brake pedal arm (brake light switch) could be the problem. As the truck ages the pedal does not return all the way forward , so the brake light switch moves out just enough to not allow the cruise to work. Try adjusting the switch out a little and see if this helps. Otherwise its vacum lines he needs to replace next. :D

Also check the connection at the servo, or the servo under the driver-side batt. My servo has BIG hole in it. Have the vac. line capped. I rarely use cruise on other vehicles anyways, so I haven't replaced it yet.
