Intermittent fuel knock

Thanks, TDR Staff
Took the truck on it's first real drive after the rebuild and cruising at 65mph after about 15 miles it was running great then all of the sudden it developed a fuel knock and starting throwing all kinds of white/grayish smoke. I left off the throttle and pulled over, popped the hood, everything looks fine. Jumped back in took off and ran fine the rest of the 20 miles or so.

Today, after sitting a few weeks, same thing, cruising threw town this time about 45 in 5th gear, fuel knock, whitish smoke, lasted about 3 seconds, then back to running normal again. It's random.

Everything in the fuel system is remanufactured by Industrial Injection in Salt Lake. CP3 with bag of parts and 60hp dragon fly injectors. Loaded a Tow tune from Smarty Jr also. No check engine light comes on when it happens.

This has me quite concerned that an injector is going to stick open and melt down my new pistons.

Any ideas? Thanks.

That is a typical issue with those injectors, the QC is just not tight enough for the demands of the system. Most vendors have quit selling the bag of parts for the CP-3 because the results were not consistent, too many replacements to get it right or close to right. Modifying the FCA introduces unknown issues with the operation that simply cannot be found. The description leads one to believe you have an injector hanging open, or, possibly FCA sticking. Did you track rial pressure at the time of the knock and smoke?
