Hello all,

I am getting a "lamp out" on the dash display. It has happened twice this past week, but there are no lamps out. It turned off when I turned the headlights on this last time--it doesn't stay on very long. I thought I saw something in the TDR somewhere about this issue. Does anyone have any info on this, or what could cause it and how to correct it? Any help isgreatly appreciated.

Regards,

Joe. :)

Joe,

The earlier 3'rd genners had problems with the tail light assemblies where the bulb contacts meet the socket. The computer sensed the open line (no bulb contact) once you turned your lights on there was enough current flowing to "reconnect the socket with the bulb". Hope this makes sense. You may want to try some dielectric grease. Home Depot electrical section.

There was more discussion on this here.

I've had this problem in my 2003 and the intermittent warning drives me nuts. The problem is in the lamp socket in the taillight assembly.

I've had the same problem. I just went and bought all new bulbs, and put some dielectric grease on the ends. No problems since I did that.

I too had this problem and ended up replacing the bulb holder in the tail lamp assembly. I think it was around $20 at the dealer (cheap for the price). Haven't had any problems since. When I removed the bulb holder it was obvious that it arced/burned/overheated sometime in the past.
