2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake grab - getting severe

I have a 95 that has had an intermittent oil leak for about 1 1/2 years. It was never very bad until recently. The problem is I can clean the engine up so it is spotless and leave it run for a hour and she wont leak a drop. After I drive it for an hour it is full of oil again and you can't tell where it is coming from. It only does it sometimes as well. (Pretty baffeling). I am currently doing some construction work in Romania and one of the guys who works with me took the truck to a "shop" to have it checked out. Well they tell me at this shop that the problem is the Injector pump and It will cost $2000 to fix it. They also tell me my front end is shot (2 wheel drive) and that will cost another $4000 to fix.

First does this sound possible about the oil leak, second I will be back in Wisconsin in March and can work on the front end of this thing myself. How much am I looking at in just a parts cost to replace the entire front end?

If it was a Ford, then I could believe the injection pump would be causing the oil leak, but on the Dodges, there is NO RELATION!

Find another shop, or clean the engine real good, take it for a 2 mile drive and look to see where the oil is coming from and report back.

Front end for $4k - this also sound a bit steep. FIND ANOTHER SHOP!

You can buy dye to add into the engine oil. Then use one of the lights that lite up the dye.

The common parts for the front end, track bar - fixed most easily with a Luke's Link, same for all the rest of the front end eg. tie rod, drag link, etc, Luke's link will fix it.

Ball joints, I installed NAPA. Price was right and they offered a life time warranty. Steering stabilizer (dampener), installed a Rough Country. The total parts cost is hundreds, not thousands. Last item installed, a DSS last night.

Do the work yourself, as 4 K$ is too much.

For that leak look at the mounting point for the vacuum pump. Mine only leaked while being driven, never at an idle while I was under the truck looking for the leak. If the bracket that holds the power steering pump to the block is loose or broken it can allow the whole assy to move and the gasket will leak intermittant. The gasket is about $4 from Cummins and can be replaced in an hour. The two bolts that hold the vacuum pump to the case and the assy bracket to the block are all you need to disconnect. Slide the whole thing rearward enough to remove the old gasket and install the new. If the oil is coming from the center of the vacuum pump there is a fix for that also. If that is your problem I'm sure someone can provide the link to the instructions.
