 this has happened to me again today, drove to the store -shut it off ,came out and all it would do is turn over. waited a few seconds and tried it again, nothing ,tried it again and then she started. Any body got an idea what`s going on. `96 3500 5-sp. need some quick responses, going to the TDR Nationals thanx

There's a bunch of threads on this, but usually the first place to check is the shutdown relay. You can do some searches to find more info.

fuel shutoff relay..... replace it first

then go for starter contacts and plunger.

these two problems travel in pairs. once the starter contacts fuse on you, it will most likely take out your starter and fuel shutoff solenoid. the bill for that repair is about $300-$600 depending on where you buy your parts from :D dont wait!!!

you can prevent it for $11-$40 depending on where you buy your parts from :D

I just replied to two other threads about the same thing. look for them to find a source for the cheapest Contacts and Plungers known to man :D

I agree that it is most likely the relay I would check it first. But also turn your truck to the run position and see if the run stop selinod has plunged up to the run position.
