Hello all, I've searched the forums and couldn't find anything like what im experiencing.
I have a ticking noise coming from the driver side of the engine on the 06', it sounds like it's coming from the CP3 pump. I replaced all the injectors roughly 10,000 miles ago and when i did i installed a secondary 2 micron cat filter. Could it be the FCA going bad??? it really does it when its cold, it kid of settles down when it warms up and doesn't do it all the time.

Mine also does the same thing when it's cold. Since the day it left the factory.

I've always assumed it's the FCA, although I have no explaination for why it's noisier when cold.

Same here, ticks when cold, goes away when warm.

Maybe I'm just used to the sound of a 3rd gen. It seemed so quiet when I first got it (compared to my 1996) and seems more noisy now. Is it me or do they get louder as they get miles on them?

Thanks for the replies... at least i'm not alone on this. It beginning to drive me nuts... I guess i just have to deal with it... LOL

Don't know if its the same thing as what I found that was making a ticking sound. Someone on this site had a post about the sound and said that it was the little blue spacers holding the injector fuel lines in place. They have a screw or nut in the center of the spacer I found a few of them that were loose and upon tightening them my noise problem went away.

Bignasty is correct on those spacers becoming loose. Start checking at #1 and work your way back to #6(hope you have long arms). The screws are difficult to tighten even when you can move the spacer with your fingers. The ones that are farthest from the front(#4,#5 & #6) are usually the ones that are loose.

1/4" drive works best as the space in the rear is somewhat limited to say the least. No gorilla tightening !!!

If they become to loose, the vibration will wear a hole in the fuel pressure line and then... ... .
