I have not had a chance to look at it yet, but.

Turn the key on and wait for the light to go out, turn the key to start it & it klicked. The next try it started, and ran fine. Took a ten minute drive shut it down, came out in ten minutes tried it again and klicked again (ONE KLICK). It started on the next try.

Took another short trip and shut it down for about 40 min and it started fine that time (on the first try). Took a another 20 minute trip and shut it down for 40 minutes and it clicked on the first try, nothing on the second, & third try (waiting for the start light to go out each time). Waited a minute and it started on the first shot on the next try. Now she tries it (a couple of times) and nonthing, Waited about three minutes (after checking the conections) and it started (a little slow to turn). What did the the Dodge come with as far as batteries? Mine has Die hard Golds in it. So what is the best place to start? Batteries?

It is charging at 14 on the factory gauge.

I am new to the diesel world.

Thanks

Sounds like you need a set of Larry B's super contacts. Read about them here. No clicks from mine after the install and it's pretty simple after you get the starter out.

On edit, FWIW he's in Tacoma.

Friend of mine had the same problem and we installed a set of Larry Bs starter contacts. Problem went away. If you are not mechanicly inclined you should go to www.nwbombers.com They are agroup of great guys who get together and work on their deisel trks. They have what are called bomb partys and help each other with projects. Give them a try.

Good luck with the starter.

Thanks for the tips/help.

I ordered the kit Tuesday afternoon. It got to my house this morning. I pulled the starter last night. Opened it up, and that is the probelm. So I cleaned up the starter and will install the kit after work. I am going to have to look that group up. I want to learn ASAP on this truck, I plan on keeping it. Thanks again.
