Had my windshield replaced , now I got both the intermittent wipers, and auto dimming headlights not working correctly . The auto dimming does not work at all, and the wipers cycle one soon as the truck is started , and then cycles whatever it's set at regardless if it's raining or not. Got an appointment with the glass shop to take it in tomorrow. Wondering if anyone has had these issues after the windshield had been replaced. Talking with the shop , he was going to check the plug connection to see if it didn't get pushed in all the way, hopefully its that simple .

Did they use the correct glass?

Nothing should have to be unplugged.

Also, check your settings on the 8.4 if the system detects an issue it may disable them.

It's the OE windshield I requested . He assured me it was not aftermarket ,has the Ram logo on it ,same as the old one, unless there are aftermarket out there with the logo, no idea on that. Not sure how I would know if it was aftermarket. According to the installer there is a plug when its replaced, I would think there has to be some connection involved ??

I will check the settings , thanks

The sensor is behind the mirror and looks thru the glass. I don’t recall a connection when they replaced mine last month. I got OE glass too.

I hope he figures it out, but he did mention the plug , that it may not have gotten pushed in tight . I'm hoping he will figure it out, he's had that auto glass shop there for as long as I can remember. It was a shop approved by my insurance, so hopefully one way or the other they will get it fixed.

If you look closely you will see a black cord running into the headliner from that sensor , at least on mine you can see it .

I recently had my glass replaced, it appears to be OEM. It it took the shop an extra hour to recalibrate all the functions, including a test drive to make sure all was functioning correctly. The truck is currently in the the body shop for repairs to the passenger side rear and they informed me that they would have to recalibrate for the sensors in the new tail light that are part of the cross traffic warning. All these smart features are pretty touchy and don't appear to be just plug and play.

Most of the time when glass replace, they just let the mirror hang freely on the wires! They could use a hook and hold it to the visors to keep stress off of the wire and connector! It seems like they had that happen before and should have made sure they all work correctly before they give you back the vehicle. Hope that's the issue.

I do too. Apparently he thought all was well, its certainly not his first rodeo , you would of thought he would make sure everything was working. The service was great ,he got the windshield ordered ,and in the next day, scheduled me, and I left the truck. called me later in day to say it was done . It's a bit annoying having to take it back to him, knowing he's done many of these vehicles ,that shop has been there for thirty years . I am guessing its not plugged in properly .:(

Did they "calibrate" the sensor (laser)? The way it works is by light refraction, and it measure the difference in angle from the laser to detect if there is water or not, if they did not calibrate it for that piece of glass there could be issues with performance even with OEM glass as the thickness at the location affects it.

Thanks .Have no idea , if they calibrated or not, I will for sure ask him, taking it back this afternoon. IMO its his problem at this point .

All is working , except the wipers on intermittent ,cycles once when the truck is started . Not sure what to do ,nor does the installer at this point. He checked all the connections . Not a big deal, but I would like to get it fixed .

Maybe a 1/2 hour with the batteries disconnected will clear the glitch?

Possibly the magic box is not getting messages from the BCM.

Can you check and see if the module is available on the Bus with a scan tool?

Says default for the system is Low speed if no messages are recieved from the BCM. The BCM reads the selector switch, then sends the info it gets to the magic box.

There is some sort of Customer Option deal where you can the feature off as well. Maybe you can toggle the feature on and off? Did not say if that was EVIC or Scan Tool for that setting. It's almost like they expect you to know what you are doing with this stuff.

If you want a pdf will post up what I found if the above it too vague.

John mentioned to verify the system settings in post 2 above. Has that been done? Seems like the intermittent wipers may be working in the normal intermittent mode and not the automatic mode.

This is from the 2020 manual. Check your owner's manual for the system you have.

RAIN SENSING WIPERS — IF EQUIPPED This feature senses moisture on the windshield and automatically activates the wipers for the driver. Wiper delay position 1 is the least sensitive, and wiper delay position 5 is the most sensitive. Position 3 should be used for normal rain conditions. Positions 1 and 2 can be used if the driver desires less wiper sensitivity. Positions 4 and 5 can be used if the driver desires more sensitivity. Place the wiper switch in the O (off) position when not using the system. NOTE:  The Rain Sensing feature will not operate when the wiper switch is in the low or high-speed position.  The Rain Sensing feature may not function properly when ice, or dried salt water is present on the windshield.

Thanks. I have been into the settings ,and the appropriate settings are checked. I will see if there is other settings I missed . When the windshield was replaced , everything had to be reset . My auto dim was not working, had to get into the settings ,and reset it also . As said everything works , but the wipers cycle that one time when started if the intermittent is switched to any of the five settings ,then work as they should if you spray some water on the windshield. For now I just have it shut off until needed .

As said in the previous post ,the setting have been reset , I will check ,and see if there is normal or automatic in the settings . haven't been into the screen for a few days ,but don't remember seeing anything but just the intermittent wipers display to check , nothing about normal or auto .
