I drove with a 4" open exhaust for quite a while, but the drone was driving my scribbles. I started a muffler search, and decided that a big-rig muffler would be easier to aquire than some others. But, most of the truck mufflers were 5" (in stock), so I thought, "what the heck"! I bought one of those big up-right semi mufflers and mounted it under the truck. I figured, if it will flow enough for a 14 liter motor, it oughta do fine with a 5. 9! I did a super-simple deal under there by just hanging on a 90' elbow on the back and dumping the exhaust under the bed. It was quiet enough for me and the exhaust temps didnt change one bit. Well, this past weekend I finished plumbing up my 5" single stack, and let me tell you, it is more quiet in the cab than stock (I think), yet very "truck sounding" outside. Besides looking cool, I am extrememly happy with this set-up... . now I just need more smoke!
