First off..... let me just say that this forum is some of the best money I've spent... . invaluable information... thanks to everyone here.
I've been lurking for a year or so & when I researched a problem... I found it within minutes.
Which brings us to my current problem... . the 5th gear nut.
My father borrowed my truck to haul down a 5th wheel holiday trailer to Indio, Ca. He called last night to inform us that they made it... "Barely"... not a word I wanted to hear.
Just out of Vegas, the 5th gear went... . he continued on for 400 miles in 4th until they arrived in Indio. From what he explained... sounds like the nut has backed off.
Since they are 2000 miles from home, I think we should solve the problem while he is in Indio. (we live in Canada)
Could anyone here recommend a good transmission shop in Indio, Ca. or surrounding area?
Once we find out what the problem really is, I will be calling the good folks from:
http://www.standardtransmission.com/
that have been highly recommended by everyone here.
Time is not of a great issue, at least they arrived safely... I'm sure Dad was on his second or third shot of Whiskey when he called... . he tends to worry about these things. They stay down until the end of March... . but would like to get it running in a week or so.
Once again hello from Canada (& Indio, Ca. ), thanks to everyone & appreciate any help... ...
