Hello all, As you can hopefully see I have a '99 2500 2X4 CTD. Bought it in Dec. '01 with 40K miles. I'm in the Fort Worth/DFW area and would like to hear from some local TDR members. I still have 50K worth of Warranty left, so I'm reluctant to bomb the drivetrain just yet. Any recommendation on local dealers for warranty repairs? The truck is a daily driver with summer pulls of a 23' boat to area lakes. CTD does well, boat and trailer... :D

I'm looking at new tires, shocks, and a subwoofer to complete the audio bomb in the next 60 days. (Tax refund checks are wonderful). I'll be searching archive posts for most of my information and will post various questions in the appropriate forums. I'm glad to finally post and break the ice ( HEY we got snow here in DFW today!). Thanks for the 'floor', now back to normal programming. .

I get to be the first

Welcome to the TDR Richard, hope you get as much good useful information out of this site as I have. :p

Just remember once you start bombing you can't stop.

Welcome again:D Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. :D

Richard,

Check out the Events Forum and the Regional Chapters Forum for things going on in your area. There are quite a few members where you are.

Welcome aboard

Hello Richard,

If you want to drive over to Lewisville on the 16th of March, check out this thread https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=33329

They had one of these in Jan, I think, it was a blast. Got to meet several people here on the board, faces to names. Got to see trucks, mods, smoke, power, screaming engines, Tim the toolman Taylor would have been proud. What was that noise ?

The following is (MHO) my humble opinion:

Tires = Michelin, Shocks, there is a group purchase(Bilstein) here in the classifieds ad #1897 and JL Audio has a sub for you here http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/ramcentercushion.html and here http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/ramextendedcab.html I am having trouble deciding which of the two I want more, space or sound.

I live in the same area, maybe we will run into each other (figuratively, of course):D :D

TDR Members,

Thanks for the welcome. I'll certainly attend the dyno day and bring my son with me when I do. :) I'll bite the bullet and get the Michelins, M/S version, probably 265/75E OUCH!!! now am really undecided about the shocks. I want the Bilsteins, but have read that they are very stiff shocks. I think my lady would kill me if I stiffened up the ride(yes, I see it too, let's not go there). Wondering if the Rancho 9000s might not be a better choice for my needs. Rather have the Bilsteins. Cheaper and less to go wrong. On the sub... I've looked at both those enclosures as well as the MTX Thunderform. I need the enclosure under the rear seat. I frequently have a pretty passenger that uses the center seat and I wouldn't change that arrangement for anything. Heard the stock drivers in both the JL and MTX boxes are rather weak, so considering ordering the MTX unloaded and bombing the bomb so to speak. I'm hopeful someone here has been there/ done it. Interested in sound quality rather than sound pressure volumes. Thanks again for the welcome. Been lurking awhile, time to speak up :D

I've got the Thunderform box and have no complaints, plenty of bass for my taste (and I like a lot). PM me and maybe we can set up a jam session if you'd like  BTW, welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard. I'm sure by now you realize that this site holds a wealth of info on our trucks. Have fun
