Joke going around in the email:

If you had bought $1000. 00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49. 00. With Enron, you would have $16. 50 of the original $1,000. 00.

With Worldcom, you would have less than $5. 00 left.

If you had bought $1,000. 00 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the 10 cent per pound deposit (in Maine), you would have $214. 00.

Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

investments

I have decided to change my investments where I work. From the begining I have maxed out my savings (20)% . After the last two years of continual losses I have decided to reduce the amount to 6% the amount the company matches and take the other 14% to a investment firm (Wells Fargo) to invest in roths for me and my wife and other investments.

I dont know if that will help but I dont wont to wind up like enron employee. The only good thing that come from the Enron train wreck if after all of the negative news the company that I work for did not go through the change to require the matching amount of money to be company stocks.

I think that we have seen only the tip of the ice berg on companys that have juggled the books and have a lot more debt ratio and small earnings.

Invest wisely Jimk

I made some changes recently too. Our 401K plan gives us internet access to move the money around to different investment types. I put in into the few choices that were making money slightly or at least not losing... Hopefully, it will turn around soon.
