DHRA Indy Motel Warning Letter

LOL, I thought the police were being pretty cool about the whole thing. I crashed around 11pm Sat night, the guys I was with mentioned that the cops came by around 1am and told people to leave or go inside. Hence the "go to your room" humor.

However they did like watching the guy with the propane torch light the unburnt fuel from both stacks of his buddies truck... ... ... ... ... . so it really wasn't like we had to be in our rooms.

:-laf :-laf That was sweet. We had that going at our hotel in Brownsburg the night before, and when we got up the next morning there was a tree nearby that was all charred black.

(I was the guy with the camera, btw, in case you saw me. Too bad the video didn't really come out due to the rain #@$%! )

The police did stop some of the night partys but it was thier job. We had five of them standing in our group BS'ing for a couple hours saturday night. We were fine with it since we usually park our truck when we get back to the hotel and leave it set for the night anyway. But I would say the show is over, the lack of competitors, vendors and fans at this show says that. We will be in Racine WI next weekend with NADM and this is where you are going to start seeing the trucks show up also. People will only take so much and after the announcement on sunday afternoon I would say it will seal the fate of DHRA.

A Moose's take on things...

I for one was there many years, and this year was not the best. I'd say for me it was '06 & '07. However, in '07 I remember having to leave the warehouse with my son due to the rowdiness getting out of control. :-{}

However this year the police were way on the other side of the line. When my buddies truck died due to a bad CP3 pump, this Barney Fife Deputy told us that our 6 trucks legally park were a "Traffic Hazard" and that we would be "arrested and the trucks would be towed!" This on the Intersection of the heavily traveled routes CR200 and CR1000 in the Mega-city of Avon, In! (Maybe you can find it on a map.) Nothing like letting us help out a friend! Hope that Deputy got his "Green Bullet" award #@$%! He did get his truck back on the road Sunday.

I think that expanding the "Afterhours" party @ the IRP venue is the way to go. There needs to be a solid set of rules that must be followed. Simple stuff, like No Burnouts in unapproved areas, No Drinking and Driving while doing a demos. On the plus side, there would be controls and safety measures. Maybe even using the track for some Ford VS Chevy VS Dodge racing

On the weird side, was the anoucement that the "Checks for the winners of the Drag Racing will be mailed. " WTF is that? Did the Pullers get paid?

Due to the weather Friday night, I was not able see some of the guys I had came out to see, and then Saturday night we lost a lot of time with the CP3 issue. But on the good side, Renting the VIP Suite was way too cool.:)Oo. All said, I'm planning to go out again!

That would be awesome - just let people line up at the starting line and take turns doing burnouts...

On the other hand, I could see someone losing it and smacking the tree

If you think the event died because of the after hour events, you are so wrong.

The first year at Indy the NO ONE knew what was going to be tolerated off site, but yet the hotels were packed, the pits were full. Same with the second year etc... until some changes happened... ... ... and not the at the hotel level.

Too say that it died because of rudeness of a group is not what was going on. Since you did not go this year you really can not say now what has caused the change? Just makes me a bit upset that people are quick to point out what they think "caused it to die".

Yes SpicyJam, The actions of the people is what killed the event for me. You do not have to be stupid and drunk to have a good time. I like a cold beer too, but it is about moderation and respecting those around you. It was not just afterhours, some people were too drunk at the track( this is supposed to be a family event). Randy

Rattler, you stated it killed the event is what I was refering too, maybe for you it did, but you did not have to go to a hotel that was partying..... there are plenty of areas that were not. If you exposed your kids to that, well that is on you... ..... not the us or the DHRA. If at the track that could have been avoided to... ..... and again since you did not go this year, you would have seen that the coppers were escorting "ruthless" fans out of the stands.

The event is dying cause of other reasons. I just got a letter from the Larry Knight statting that the stands still packed in over 9000 people. From what I saw the stands did look full, the competition is what was lacking... ... . and that has nothing to do with the hotels... ..... that is all politics.

I don,t mind partying, but like i said, everything in moderation. There has to be limits to everything, and if people will not exercise a certain level of self- control then i will be imposed on them. Towns will put up with a great deal for the dollars, but even that has it,s limits. We go over to Heath, Ohio after the Mopar Nats, and thier policy has been that as long as they don,t get out of hand, let them have a little fun. Randy

Gene:

Get something going in Muncie again. Someone local to there has to track down that guy who had that big 'ole, rusty, gutless station wagon. I've got a floor jack just waiting to jack that thing up again so it can do a burn out.

IRP/ORP '08 was horrible. I'd be surprised if the DHRA has enough $ for another national event seeing as IRP/ORP would usually carry them through the rest of the year...

"Checks are in the mail!" haha

To Whom it May Concern:

One of these days, all of the financial shenanigans and lies are going to catch up with you. Folks used to like you, consider you a friend and support you. Now? I think they'd have a hard time giving you the time of day without first offering a swift kick in the pants.

Feeders,

Matt
