Hi everyones,
Is it possible to replace the VE pump with
the P7100?
Has anyone you know done it?
possible RAMmifications?

Its possible but the bad news is the cam has to come out to change the timing gear housing.

Well I was just thinking far, far future...
when i ahve tons of money. . yeah right
the combination and feasability
of swapping the camshaft, pump, head and pistons... i'd love to see a 1st gener
competing with the hardcore BOMBers

I wasn't rying to disrespect the 1st generation... I own one... It was just a thought for conversation's sake.
Im just thinking about the future, rather than buying a newer truck, Id like to do a teardown and rebuild for max power... like after I win the lottery. . lol... thats a long way off since I only have 150k miles so far.
I see all these drag and pulling videos, and I'd love to see some first gen trucks whoopin' @$$ just for nostalgia's sake.
I'm not dogging the 160 engine, I'm just curious. I figured if any sort of build up is my future plans, I'd do my homework for a long time before diving in.
Right now I lack the funds, and knowledge,
so all i can do is dream and speculate.
I'd love to have a first generation truck that could run a quarter with the likes of
the Jannetty truck... say 14s at somewhere in the 90s mph.
I love the old body style it reminds me of the 1980 3/4 ton Power wagon w/ a built 318
I had in high school.
I am impressed with the performance of my current Ram. But its addictive... "if alot is good than more must be better"
any thought on the 160 transformation is appreciated.

Thanx,
joe

joe: I didn't take your comment as "dissin'" the 1st gen trucks! My comment was meant to remind y'all that the First Team's trucks have led the way from the beginning. You gents (and ladies) with the 1st gens. take a back seat to no one. The owners and their trucks were the pioneers of the power enhancements going on today. I know first hand from my original '92 12 valver to the '98 12v that I now own.
Now... get on to the earlier posts and the archives... I know I rattled on about the P7100 pump and the extensive work required to retrofit it into an early engine.
Good Hunting... .

Thanks Old School. You make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside #ad

The good news is a P-Pump motor will and can replace the 160hp motor. I now have a 96 215 hp motor in my 92. Bad news is its going to cost ya big $$$$. Mike
