Probably nothing, due to the relativly short duration, however this is not a good practice. Its hard on the turbo and pistons and valves and rings and all sorts of things.

Does it seem to run fine, no excessive blowby or any other problems? A Johnson

I have had mine stick closed twice even though I used it daily. First time was on Emigrant pass East of Pendelton with my 4,500 lb camper on. Couldn't figure out why my EGT was pegging, and it was smoking badly. It got so hot the bolts on the manifold turned bronze colored.

The next time I stopped in the Cummin's NW shop in Eugene who disconnected it for me. I am still wondering if I should give up on exhaust brakes completely or not. The last two truck I have owned I had them installed the first thing since I tow a rather heavy fiver.

The first system was the "Decelerator" by US Gear installed at Camping World. I had nothing but on-going and expensive problems with it

Next was the BD system. Worked OK for nearly two years, but have had sticking problems with it two times now in the past year and a half. Maybe I should just expect to replace brakes more often and give up on exhaust brakes.

My BD system is still disconnected, and I will probably not reconnect it.

Truck seems fine, I am just paranoid. Can't imagine it being good on things. I figured it probably sooted the oil more than normal.

Thanks,

Dan

Scott:

No I haven't. Someone else mentioned that to me once, but I never could figure out what it was. Is it that little device that has the vacuum hoses going into and out of it?

I am a bit physically and height challenged which makes it's difficult for me to work under the hood. I do OK laying on my back underneath, but I still don't know very much about diesel engines although I have owned about five diesel powered vehicles in the past twentyyears. (only two Dodge trucks though)
