Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) How much is a 94 worth?

I'm sure what I'm looking for is here somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.

All things being equal, is my Cummins happier with or without an Edge EZ (or a Superchips, or some other mild, non-tapping device)?

I left the Superchips installed on the 40 hp setting when I put in the Mach 2's, and drove it like that for a month or so, just because I wanted the tire-size feature. Yesterday, I took it off, and the engine is noticeably quieter. Almost a buttery smooth sound, compared with the sharp clatter when the program was installed. Now, I'd like to install the EZ just to see how it does with the injectors, but I'm wondering if that different sound indicates that life is tougher for the engine with a timing box installed.

Thank you.

The extra noise is from the increase in the timing, which raises cylinder pressure. Excess cylinder press is a bad thing and will blow head gaskets. Fill in your signature so we know what truck you have, etc. I would think that you will be fine with either but don't run them together as they both add timing. If you don't have gauges I would get them.
