I would be cautious using it in hot climates. I tried it in my '01 once and my Cummins was not happy when it hit 110 here! More blowby, oil consumption and wear metals went up a lot compared to the 15w40. Not planning on using it again, at least in the summer.

I have heard of isolated issues like that before, but never experienced them myself. Like I said, I run it year round and run my trucks HARD. It gets pretty warm down here too. Maybe there was another issue? I guess as long as it went away with the 15W-40 it really doesn't matter.

If you notice and increase in oil consumption then change it out.

I had it in for 20k since I thought it was good for extended drains. It wasn't like I had bad numbers and it could have been something else but the numbers improved when I went back to the 15w40. It works year 'round since our winters are fairly mild.

Yes it does. And to do a little experimentation I put it in my Megacab at 6,000 miles. Truck runs strong and put 347 ponies to the rear wheels with just Dynomites diesels 90hp extrude honed Injectors.

I've been reluctant to change over to 5w30, but I guess if Cummins says it's ok... I can't take the smell of Rotella anymore... can't seem to find Delvac 1 at Wally World. I'm actually about to purchase enough synthetic Amsoil 15w40 for a couple changes here tomorrow, up until now I've been running all 5w40 synthetics.

I actually just installed my DDP stage 3s, they seem very nice. Now all I need to do is get my BHT3B installed so I can use their full potential. :)
