ok is anyone running BD's Twin turbos?? my buddy that owns a diesel shop said they have seen good results with them and one guy ran 560 on them at the last dyno day. if your running a set, how much power are you able to get out of them? also what is your mod setup to get that power? i'm trying to get around 550 and 1000 and im jsut not sure that the BD's will handle that. hope you guys have some insight to this. thanks in advance

Will, PM "AK RAM" or do a search (here and DTR) on his user name and the word "twins" and you should find some good reading. He has a set on a 2003 SO just like yours and I would say with all his mods he is over 600hp. I have ridden in his truck and I am very impressed with the BD setup.

Nice run, AK RAM. :D Those twins do a good job of cleaning up the smoke, not to mention they sound cool spooling up. Is that the drag strip in Palmer?

Jim

I'm also running BD's twins and am completely happy with them. I should be well over 500hp with my mods, and I don't have EGT probs. at all. Retail is pretty high, but find a dealer who can cut you some slack and they become fairly competitive for a very well-planned kit. I did the install myself and everything was perfectly described in the install manual.

KEEP ON TRUCKIN'

Did I see that correctly. The elapsed times and speed at the end. AK you beat him right? I would like to have seen the look on his face, lol. That's a great video and the spool up sounds awesome.

Yep. That is a really nice track.

Yeah. Stock mustangs run in the 14's. That guy had a nitrous bottle in the trunk. I wish I could have seen his face too. He didn't come back to the pits. He went straight out the gate and didn't even take his helmet off. Priceless. :-laf

Retail is $4,600 for the 3rd Gen kit. There are better kits out there that are designed for racing for slightly less money than that. They are a well rounded set though. Spool is lightening fast, so they tow great, and still flow enough to make some decent power. As long as you don't plan to exceed 600hp, they would be fine for race day. Continuous use cooling capability (< 1200*F) is closer to 500hp. Ditto what Lonestar said. Call around and ask your friends. There are deals to be had. I paid right at $3,000 for mine, which is a great deal considering they come with an ATS manifold ($400), stainless twins version of the X-Intake ($350), in addition to all the other goodies you would expect.

AK RAM, that is an awesome run! I'm really curious about your mods. Besides the BD Twin Turbo, what are you running in that thing?

Looks like it was hard keeping that beast still waiting for the green light. Thats funny that he just left, guess he drove home thinking "Oh man what will I tell my buddies, my back side was handed to me buy a Dodge 4X4 with a diesel engine. " Bet he'll be at a Dodge dealership soon, lol.

Im running bd's twins in my 01 and i think theyre awesome, they do spool fast and made some unreal power with what i have, that is until it started pushing my head off my block... ... got a slight oil leak now, but i really think theyre a good setup, from everywhere i looked jegs had the lowest price, paid 3k for mine i think for the 03 and 04 is around 3800

What I think is even funnier, but most people don't catch it..... Notice when I start my burnout (you have to do a burnout when there is a camera recording, its like a rule :-laf ), the mustang is still in line behind me. As he pulls out, my tires light and just makes him disappear in smoke. You know I'm throwing little rocks and melted rubber all over his fancy car too. I pull forward and the guy tells me to wait on the stang... . well if you listen carefully, you can hear the stang's engine screaming away back there doing like a 10 second burnout. He is trying his best to produce some tire smoke. Can't be out done by a pick-up. You can see a little puff as he catches traction. Screw getting whooped, I'd say he was already ****** off at that point. I think that is hilarious.

TST PowermaxCR

BDDL Programmer

F1 Diesel Flux Injectors

Snow 2-Stage Water/Meth Injection

BD TorqLoc locks the trans for me in 2nd (picks up about . 2 in the 1/4)

RAD turns off Torque Management and Speed Limiter (a must for SO autos)

ARP Head Studs keeps the head on

FASS feeds the fuel

Makes for a fun ride, but man is it expensive! :D

AK RAM,

Nice run for sure. Looks like a mach 1 mustang that you embarrased. They usually are good for 13's stock. Looks like he didn't bring enough hp to protect his pride.

Nice work.

so my next question is, do i need studs to run the bd twins? without the use of an external wastegate for the time being till i can make something. will boost be outa control? does anyone know if the ca SO model auto has the torque management on it?? i thought it did not but i just read somewhere that it does.

Studs are always a good idea (insurance), but if you can keep the boost down to around 55 lbs, studs are not really necessary.

Whether you can keep boost down to that level will depend on how much power your making. There is no external wastegate on this set. The internal wastegate on the top turbo is pretty big, but has its limits. At my power level, the wastegate can not keep up. They run at 67 lbs on my truck and I am out of wastegate adjustment to bring it down. If you plan on sticking with the TST and EZ stack, you will have no problems keeping boost around 55 lbs. That stack would be well within their comfort range and should work well for you. If you plan on installing injectors at any time though, over spool will become an issue and you should definitely install studs, or go with a twin set that has an external gate.

AK, I love that run

Somebody should have told that Stang driver that you don't go bear hunting with a switch!!! I watched your takeoff several times,... you were all over those lights. Great anticipation on your part. He got a chance to eat even more smoke right from the start. I guess you won't see any nads hanging from his rear end. Oo. Oo. Oo.
