Is Haynes Correct?

Hayne's Manual reads that only the gas engines have a drain on the block to drain out coolant. Just got through flushing the system and wanted to get everything out. So far, I have 3 gallons out the radiator drain. Is there anyway to drain block on 5. 9CTD??

96 shop manual states same thing as Haynes.
The manual doesn't not give a clue how you are suppsosed to get the coolant/water out of engine block/head. Unless it is supposed to drainout by itself(when radiator drain cock is open).
Many years ago this how I used to get 95 to 99 % of coolant/water out of system. I open drain cock or sometimes I took off hose on bottom of radiator. I took off radaitor cap. I would then start engine and let the water pump push the coolant/water out until it dribbled(then turned off engine). I kept my eye on temp qauge so it would not go into danger zone. Then I would replace lower radiator hose or close off drain cock then would refill radiator.
Do not do this with radiator cap still on.
Start off with cold engine.
I think this will work for you.
But others mite have better method.
