Is it my area, or did diesel just jump $.25/gal overnight?

Ford/International 6L Legal Issues

Last night (9/30) I filled up my little VW Jetta TDI at $2. 79/gal (Seabrook, NH). Today when I went by the same station diesel was up to $2. 98/gal ... WT-HECK!!!!???

An October suprise? The dollar dropped like a rock overnight in value? The tired old "its oil heating season again" excuse?

Anyone else see a massive jump in diesel prices today (10/01)?????#@$%!

diesel here went down 2 cents to 2. 93 for a week then noticed it went up to 3. 04 today. here fuel has been 2. 95 for the whole summer.

Maybe a short term up-tick as the EIA has diesel and gasoline prices down, obviously not what you are seeing.

This Week In Petroleum

I purchased 500 gals bulk highway, ultra low sulphur last week and it was down a few cents from summer. I was expecting an increase as refinery's convert to fuel oil but was pleasantly surprised.

Hopefully, you just saw a one-time hit.

Gas and diesel are up 10-15 cents in the Mpls. St. Paul area. Our crude comes down from Canada. The dollar has been dropping lately - Arabs want their moneys worth.

I noticed the price of diesel jumped $0. 11 a litre two weeks ago up here in the Vancouver area. That equates to $0. 4158 per U. S. gallon. Nothing mentioned in the news about it going up. Gas stayed the same price. Maddening.

I just read in the Chicago Tribune that the road tax on fuels has increased in some states. The increase was at much as . 40 cents per gallon increase, as in Kentucky. Kentucky went from 21. 1 cents a gallon to 60 cents a gallon.

Depending on were you live the fuel tax could be causing this increase.

Diesel fuel in Central Illinois jumps all over the place. At our local station, diesel is $2. 85 however, 6 miles down the road it is $3. 09. The only thing I can think of is a home football game for the U of I.

We went frpm $3. 09 to $3. 17 this weekend at the Valero and at the Shell is at $3. 32. I still hate paying more for diesel that Premium gasoline!

Down here in God's Country (Central TX), we were hovering around $2. 69 a couple of weeks ago close to Austin, but yesterday I noticed the Valero was back to $2. 99. Go figure.

It's because they can

It had been pretty stable around here (Seattle area) for quite a while at $3. 25/$3. 29. But, a few weeks ago, it jumped to $3. 39 and higher for no apparent reason. Gas has actually gone down a few cents in that time. (gas had been up and down with no change in diesel for quite a while)

Now its jumped up to almost $3. 50. Higher in some stations. I noticed the local Shell crook in my neighborhood jumped to $3. 50 the day he put up the sign that said 10 cent off per gal with enough gas points from shopping at QFC.

Filled up Sat morning @ 3. 09 and while I was fueling the station attendant was changing the price on the sign to 3. 19!
