Is it ok to clean AFE filter and re oil it with K&N products?

my AFe is quite dirty, and needs a cleaning... However, I have the K&N cleaning stuff, and K&N oil... . would it harm it to use it on the AFE??? Need some input...

I don't see why it would cause a problem, they are both made of pretty much the same material. Maybe somebody who knows for sure will pipe up but I don't why it wouldn't work.

it will work fine.



as a test I used simple green to clean a well used afe stock box filter



it took 2 sprayings and rinsing but it looked like new and I even used amsoil filter oil too



why pay more to do the simple things

Cool... . thanks for the replies... I cleaned it, at least what would come out, and now we are playing the waiting game for it to dry. . I found that the K&N out of the 350 Vortec Chevy we own fits up just fine, and will work for a day while this cleaner dries up.

I have the Mega Cannon and love it. It's louder than stock but not not in a bad way. When I check my oil while refueling, people always ask about it. Well worth the $185.

I can't answer your question, but I have both oils and the K&N oil is a lot thinner than the AFE oil.

CHRIS,, WHAT BLASPHEMY!!! I hereby judge you, and sentance you to 25% less clutch life, and 50 less HP.



I had an AFE Cleaning kit for you to use at the Clash of The Titans, but you had, um, something more important to do that day. It's ok, I fogive you,, but I'm still taking 50 horse for using a K&N product.

EDIT: Saw that the K&N oil may be thinner. Maybe this is why the oil gets sucked through a K&N Filter, and not an AFE???



The Mega-Cannon rocks! I love to hear the turbo growl @ 5PSI, and scream when it's movin' me along with 40PSI.

I got it for that price off Ebay. I didn't believe it when it the buy it now price. They show up there on ocasions(sp) for about that price, you just have to look every day.

KLOTZ Lubricants has spray cans of filter cleaner (really cuts the oil) They also have Foam filter and Gauze filter oil.
